Clock World began as a hobby and part-time business in 1970 when the owner, Bill Soper, began buying, repairing, and reselling antique clocks at flea markets and fairs in the Mannheim-Heidelberg area of Germany. In the late 1970's, he relocated his family to Statesville,NC and opened The Clock Works in a vacant Victorian home in his neighborhood. In the spring of 1994, Clock Works was persuaded by the Downtown Statesville Development Corp to move the business to an available downtown store location to enjoy the benefits of additional floor space and increased pedestrian traffic. At this time, the name was changed to Clock World. Keeping our store overhead to a minimum, offering the lowest-possible prices on new clocks, and performing top-quality repair work on older clocks has enabled us to grow into one of the area's largest clock shops. Currently on display are over 100 grandfather clocks, and a huge selection of wall, mantel, cuckoo, and smaller table-top pieces. The business is staffed by just 2 employees, Bill Soper and Sharon Martin.
