- CliffsVic was named after my favourite lake freighter, the Cliffs Victory. Cliffs Victory started out in life as a Victory Ship during World War II. Following its decommissioning after the War, the ship was purchased by the Cleveland Cliffs company and converted into a bulk freighter for duty on the Great Lakes. During this duty, Cliffs Victory was lengthened at least one more time.
