Born in Moscow, Russia in 1985 Alex Gordon was not exposed to classical music until his family immigrated to the United States. The Jewish family felt heavy oppression under Soviet rule, and feared to have Alex taken away by the Russian Army as soon as he was of age. They decided to flee to the US when Alex was four, and this entailed having to move through Italy and Austria because the communists prohibited a direct route to the States. Having settled in Connecticut, the Gordons frequented Yale University sponsored concerts, and this is where Alex heard the call of his first love, the piano. He began studying the piano and used it as a basis to explore other instruments that were provided to him both by his elementary and high school. It was not rare to see him carrying a violin and trumpet case in one hand, and a French horn and clarinet in the other. He was not allowed to bring the tuba on the school bus as it took up other people's space. Alex joined the New Haven Youth Symphony where he currently plays the tuba. He is a full-time student at Northeastern University and is currently doing a cooperative education semester in Newport, RI where he works as a research intern for Alidade Incorporated. Alex runs his own music business that buys and sells CDs to both institutional and online buyers across the world. admin@classicalenthusiast.com
