Title
Chris Jenkins Luthier, Maker of Chameleon and Saddlepal Acoustic Guitars
Description
Luthier Chris Jenkins lives and works in the Ft. Worth/ Dallas area of Texas. His formal education trained him first as an accountant, and then a veterinarian. After 22 years of formal education, and over 20 years of veterinary practice, Chris became interested in guitar building. Chris still practices veterinary medicine full time at Creature Comfort Animal Clinic in Arlington, Texas.
Chris' surgical skills are focused to his passion for guitar making between 7PM and midnight each evening in his attic studio. Not a hobbyist, Chris takes his second profession of guitar making seriously. The best evidence of his dedication to guitar building is the relatively large number of Jenkins guitars that are being played by professional musicians.
“I suppose I will always practice veterinary medicine. I can’t imagine any type of doctor just walking away from it. It takes so long to become good at medicine, and there are always more patients that need help than there are providers to give it. At the same time, I don’t think there will ever be a time when I don’t have a guitar under construction. Building instruments is very rewarding. I get a great sense of accomplishment from constructing something that can bring pleasure to others, either as players or listeners. Also, these instruments will carry on long after Chris Jenkins and his patients are gone.”
