Welcome to Politics, one of the largest and strongest groupings of political science in the UK which prior to October 2004 was known as the Department of Government. The Department was founded in 1949, since when it has flourished as a place of scholarship, always able to count academics of national and international reputation amongst its number. Given its large size (currently over 40 members of staff), Politics is able to cover a wide range of specialist interests, including International Politics and Development, Political Theory, Public Policy, European Politics, British and US Politics; and we have long been known for our broad and varied undergraduate and graduate programmes . We offer a relaxed and friendly environment and cosmopolitan atmosphere. At both staff and student level, there are people here from all over the world.
