I (Jeff Townsley) started making a few surfboards for friends and for myself in 1971. This gave me the opportunity to try different designs. With very little knowledge of surfboard manufacture I was spurred on by my great enthusiasm of the sport and the desire to ride the waves on a variety of shapes and size boards.
News travels fast and one thing led to another, and within a short space of time I had a great following all wanting the same thrill and the chance to try my designs. Demand was such that I rented a small workshop and Circle One surfboard manufacture was born!
