Christchurch Girls' High School | Personal Excellence in Learning
Description
Christchurch Girls' High School is set in park-like surroundings on the banks of the Avon River, in the heart of New Zealand’s garden city, Christchurch. The school moved to this beautiful site in 1986. Along with its modern facilities and state-of-the-art specialist buildings Christchurch Girls' High School has a reputation for academic excellence. This school is proud of its forward-thinking approach to educating the 1060 young women studying at Christchurch Girls' High School.
Christchurch Girls' High School is in Matai Street, Riccarton, on the banks of the River Avon within walking distance of bus routes and beside the northwest cycleway. The school has been designed to take advantage of the unique beauty of the site, between Mona Vale and Hagley Park, and landscaping and tree planting have been devised to harmonise with the parks. As a result the students have a beautiful environment for work, recreation and sport.
Amenities provided when the school first moved to the site in 1986 have been extended and improved. Specialist teaching rooms now include an art block, a technology centre, computer centres, a drama room, a music technology room and music practice rooms. A gymnasium, incorporating a dance and aerobics studio, and a swimming pool are among the amenities for Physical Education. A spacious well-resourced library, with an attached computer centre, provides books and on-line information for the students and staff.
