Description
The Columbia Gorge Polymer Clay Guild (CGPCG) was founded in 1997 by Shelly Crossen and Ingrid Hein in Vancouver, Washington to serve polymer clay artists of southern Washington. In 1998, the membership area was enlarged to include all of Oregon, most specifically the metropolitan Portland area. The Guild's purpose is to provide education and support for polymer clay enthusiasts regardless of their skill or experience. CGPCG is a nonprofit organization, run entirely by member volunteers. We educate the public by participating in local events. In past years, we have been an actively educating the public about our art form as participants in Embellishment and the Bead & Button Show. We work closely with our sister guild, the Northwest Polymer Clay Guild (headquartered in Seattle, Washington) and offer discounted or free attendance to their members at our events.
We meet monthly (except December). Our annual holiday party is in November or December. Our special events have included workshops by such nationally recognized artists as Maggie Maggio, Mike Buesseler, and Judy Kuskin. In 2002, we had arranged a two-day workshop with the famous artist Celie Fago, but she had to cancel. In lieu, we snared renowned multimedia artist Meredith Arnold to teach her bookbinding techniques. In addition to monthly meetings, we sponsor special events. Please refer to our meeting calendar/location and special events pages for a current listing.
Our members enjoy a free rental library and regular newsletters among other membership benefits. Many of our members are instructors and educators.
