Title
CFS - Supporting Private Christian Homeschooling in San Diego County
Description
What is CFS?
CFS (Christian Family Schools) of San Diego is made up of individual home-educating families, most of whom meet in CFS associated groups identified by the community in which they reside. CFS is located in San Diego County and is one of the top 25 largest home school organizations in the nation. Our size and direction bring us into partnership with CHEA (Christian Home Educators Association of California), FPM (Family Protection Ministries), and nationally with HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association).
CFS encourages communication among private home education leaders by hosting leadership meetings and training several times a year. CFS also organizes events and activities available to members and non-members including our annual Expo Homeschool Convention featuring popular speakers and a large exhibit hall to assist homeschoolers in all their curriculum needs.
Our History
Christian Family Schools (CFS) began as a support group for San Diego home educators. The first meeting in 1983 consisted of 20 moms and 55 children who were house bound by rain. From that humble beginning sprang a bimonthly newsletter distributed through a mailing list of over 1200 families, a board which makes decisions pertinent to the present and future of CFS, and over 20 area support groups, each with dedicated leaders.
