The company was registered in 1978 following a joint venture with a coin reject company who was looking to take advantage of a new design for their reject systems using the only material Cermag then did process, Ceramic. Although the company began with the sole purpose to process ceramic magnets (ferrite), Cermag began adopting the same processing methods to the other permanent magnet materials.
