Formed by Marty and Sue Johanson in 1982 the company specialized solely in the manufacture of fishing rod blanks. Now days the CD-Sports team take pride in a wide range of high quality fishing reels, rods, blanks and accessories as well as an impressive alpine range based predominantly around the Rossignol brand. CD-Sports are renowned for their cutting edge technology, managing to be one of the leading fishing rod manufacturers in the world. This was cemented in 2004 by the ‘Best New Product” award at EFFTEX, for their state of the art XLS fly rod. Through innovation and a bit of Kiwi know how, the CD-Rods brand is able to compete with the best throughout the world. Years of research and development has allowed CD-Sports to develop a fine range of fishing rods. Whether your sport is fly fishing or game fishing CD produces rods that are second to none.
The slogan ‘made by fisherman for fisherman’ is taken seriously at CD, the products are tested not only by the R&D team but also by General Manager and NZ Fly Fishing Champion Rene Vaz, and vastly experienced Managing Director Marty Johanson. With one of the most demanding environments in the world right on their doorstep, the products sure do get a good testing! It is argued that New Zealand’s vast waterways (both fresh and salt) offer some the best fishing in the world today.
