In 1997 CD Garden, Inc. became a corporation. At CD Garden we develop, publish and distribute high quality educational software products. Our goal is to improve the multimedia learning environment for children by providing new and unique developmentally appropriate programs to begin building necessary skills and to explore math, language, social, creative and problem solving concepts. Our software is developed with the philosophy that young children learn by exploring their environment, making choices, and processing that data in a way that is meaningful to them. We strive to provide an electronic environment that celebrates curiosity. Our software is designed for both Windows and the Macintosh platforms.
The MyWork collection of games is the first in a series of program collections specifically designed to encourage exploration and discovery in young children. The 9 games are organized by level of difficulty, so the Keybang game (game #1) is suited for a very young child while the Spell game (game #9) is more appropriate for an older child. This means that the child will play these games and build skills for several years. Hearing and hearing impaired children can learn to sign the alphabet in an enjoyable and easy to use format. Our next collection of programs, MyGarden, is currently under development and will soon be ready for production.
MyWork Software is developmentally appropriate for young children because the open ended learning areas allow children to benefit from discovery by exploring concepts and making choices. Each of the learning areas of MyWork allow children some measure of control in how they will explore the concepts of that particular area. Children are given work environments with sets of "tools" that cause things to happen. Software of this type gives children the opportunity to discover the impact of their decisions encouraging a more positive attitude toward learning.
