- In 1941, a few days after Pearl Harbor, Robert and Carl Ward enlisted in the U.S. Navy. They were the first father and son to enlist together in the Navy in World Ward II. Following his discharge in 1945, Carl founded the Carl C. Ward Agency, located on Main Street in Ashland. In 1965, the offices were relocated to the Professional Building on Second Street. Son, Robert joined the firm in 1947 and became the owner in 1968 when Carl passed away. The company name was then changed to Ward Real Estate, Inc.
