Orcas Island became my home in 1963, when my husband, three young daughters and I moved here to further my husband's teaching career. Shortly after, my life in real estate began when I started working at Exton Real Estate. Rich Exton, having been in real estate on Orcas since 1943, gave me a comprehensive grounding in knowledge of Orcas Island property as well as in the ethics and workings of real estate.
In 1984 Exton Real Estate merged into what is now Coldwell Banker Orcas Island. I became the Designated Broker of the new firm and later assumed my current position as Broker/Owner. I have twice served as President of the Orcas Island Association of Realtors, and in 1999 I was voted the Realtor of the Year by that organization.
My experience in Northwest Real Estate has shown me the wonderful idiosyncrasies of Orcas Island properties, whether they involve land use, water rights, special financing, or even co-habitation by the buyer and seller on one occasion!
