Description
Cavan County Development Board is one of a number of County/City Development Boards established nationally as a result of a recommendation of the Task Force chaired by the Minister for the Environment & Local Government, Mr. Noel Dempsey. The new County/City Development Boards aim to oversee the implementation of an agreed strategy for the Economic, Social and Cultural Development of each County. Cavan County Development Board was established in April 2000 and comprises of 27 members representing the four pillars of society. These include Local Government, Local Development, State Agencies & the Social Partners.
The CDB will integrate the work of the local government, state agencies, local development bodies & social partners to avoid existing duplications, encourage co-ordinated planning, address existing gaps in service delivery etc.
In doing so, the County Development Board will bring together for the first time the key players at local level to engage in a process of long-term planning for the county for the next ten years. The process will allow areas to plan for the future in an integrated way covering public services delivered locally, for example, health, education, community development, recreation, infrastructure and employment etc.
