About Us
Carter Observatory is located in the majestic Botanical gardens in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand and is easily accessed via the cable car from the main shopping area or while enjoying the Garden's many walks.
The Observatory has a Planetarium, visitor gift shop, lecture theatre, many static displays, plus a range of telescopes, all available to the public.
The Observatory is open each day (except Christmas day). Weather dependant programmes include Daily Solar Viewing and the Southern Night Sky telescope viewing.
