Description
Capricorn Video began in 1994 on Ascension Island with a single 8mm camcorder which we used to video our sporting interests of football, netball, swimming and rounders. After playing back the first recordings we were hooked, and six months later had put together our first documentary effort about the Island, called "Living On The Rock". The video was edited using the 8mm camcorder, our home vcr and tv. We had to borrow a video player, audio mixer, microphone and connecting leads.
Our next step was to invest in Super VHS camcorders, edit VCRs and a reasonable video mixer, plus some important accessories such as a tripod! This resulted in a new video, 'ASCENSION ISLAND' released in 1996 which replaced 'Living On The Rock', and 'ST.HELENA ISLAND' which we managed to film during a holiday on our home island.
In 1999 moving with the times we upgraded with a digital camcorder and a computer. All editing was now transferred to the computer, which in one move replaced a room full of editing vcrs, mixers, processors, monitors and cables! Amazing!
