- My love for animals started at a very young age. At four years of age, living in McLean, Virginia, I had an enclosure with a pond for turtles in my back yard, two ducks named Donald and Daisy and a beagle named Missy. I was fascinated with all aspects of animal life. When I was seven, we moved to Ontario, Canada. My favourite pastime was to visit the streams of my home town of Almonte, Ontario where I would spend hours overturning rocks and brushing through weeds and grasses in pursuit of any interesting wildlife I could find.
