Well, the group started out as just a group of friends who enjoyed riding more than attending expensive college courses, particularly on warm spring days in early 1994. Dave (which is me) and Danny were the original two. Soon Kris joined the ranks, followed closely by Loretta. Which worked out so well that I married Kris and Danny eventually married Loretta. A few years later, the group grew again when Eric and Dawn joined the corps and the six of us have been around the longest. Occasionally we'll pick up a new member who'll ride with us for a while then drift off onto other things and we also have honorary members, although we've don't really know how to handle that whole thing yet...
Riding his unique and somewhat eccentric Yamaha TDM 850, not unlike himself, Danny earned the nickname "Chewy". Mostly because the condition of his TDM closely resembles the Millennium Falcon in running condition by being very well used and, features more scuffs, scratches and stories of adventure than 90% of all Adventure Tourers on the road today (just ask him how many miles duct tape lasts when patching a thread-bare rear motorcycle tire for a good example of this). Danny is, also, so hungry for adventure that it is not uncommon to not hear from him in months, then suddenly learn that he is on the other side of the country, or the other side of the world. I also think that it is safe to say, that given the opportunity, Danny would happily drop everything, at a moments notice with no planning whatsoever, to circumnavigate the globe with his lovely wife and daughter in tow.(Read more about Danny)
Being the better half of Danny, is no short order for anybody, let alone the 5'1" Loretta. And although she does not ride her own bike (it's hard to find a bike to fit when you are so short that you have to reach up to tie your own shoes) she has, nevertheless, logged more miles as pillion on the back of Danny's Seca II and TDM that she has clearly earned the moniker of co-rider. Partnering with someone as spontaneous as Danny requires some special skills, to which we will all greatly commend Loretta, otherwise Danny would probably never settle down. The only sad thing is that since the birth of their first child, we have yet to have Danny or Loretta along for any rides.
