Canto Spiritus
Description
Canto Spiritus is a chamber choir composed of 20-24 skilled and versatile singers. The music performed by Canto Spiritus is an eclectic repertoire of classical, jazz, cross-cultural and newly commissioned works that often have a theatrical bent. The chorus was founded in 1997 by Vicki Burrichter. Her founding mission was to provide audiences with a theatrical style of choral performing not usually seen in traditional choral settings.
The group has performed with the world-renowned Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble in jazz legend Mary Lou Williams's "Mary Lou's Mass."Having procured exclusive rights to perform the work with dance, as originally intended by Williams, Canto Spiritus also recorded a CD of the work.
Canto Spiritus has the exclusive United States rights to record and perform the Brazilian musicarrangements of Marcos Leite and will be releasing a CD entitled "Brazil!" at our "Best of Canto Spiritus" concert in 2004.
