The creator of The ORIGINAL CANOPY TOUR®, Darren Hreniuk, moved to Costa Rica from Canada in 1992 to create a unique adventure tour that would provide people with an exhilarating, exotic experience while furthering environmental awareness.
With an ultimate goal of funneling money back into reforestation, education and socio-economic development in the surrounding areas, The ORIGINAL CANOPY TOUR® has helped raise awareness about the rainforest's fragile ecosystem, built schools and provided much needed ambulatory care to the people in the surrounding rural areas. More recently, The ORIGINAL CANOPY TOUR® has expanded its vision for the environment to include mountains canyons, caves and other areas where topography has traditionally been a liability or restriction.
