When Harvey Yorke wrote the first edition of The Candidate's handbook, he had served as Director of Public Information on governor Ronald Reagan’s staff, and as PR director for U.S. Senator S.I. Hayakawa.
He had also won election to the City Council in Novato, CA, and served as campaign manager, consultant and advisor to numerous candidates in city and county campaigns, and on a variety of ballot initiative measures
Mr. Yorke put his 35 years of experience in public relations and politics because he believed in the promise of Democracy, and that every citizen could have the chance to serve his community if he had the tools to organize and execute a campaign for election.
