- Who are you grateful for? I had a teacher in middle school, we didn’t get along at all, he was trying to teach, and I was trying to be a class clown. After class one day, instead of sending me to the principal’s office (again), he looked me straight in the eyes and said: “You don’t have to be the class clown for your classmates to like you, you are a natural leader.” It was the first time I had been told by an adult, (other than my parents) that I was powerful. The funny thing is we still never got along. It took 18 years for me to gather the courage to call him on the phone and say Thank you. He had no clue. How would he, I was a teenager and a jerk. It felt really good to give him something he deserved… my gratitude.
