The California Assembly of Local Arts Agencies (CALAA) is a nonprofit, member-supported organization representing the state’s 250 local arts agencies. CALAA defines local arts agencies as community organizations (private), or agencies of local government (public) which provide services, financial support, or other programs for a variety of arts organizations and/or individual artists, and the community as a whole.
CALAA has established a statewide network to enable frequent and effective communication between the board of directors, district chairs representing ten active California districts, members, local arts agencies, and people and organizations that support the growth and accessibility of the arts. Each district is represented by two District Co-Chairs, who facilitate communication within their districts and with CALAA. CO-Chairs call district meetings as a forum for discussion of regional, state and national issues. CO-Chairs statewide represent their Districts at quarterly CALAA meetings. Through this link, CALAA maintains a direct link to its members and constituents in the field.
Board Members are professional arts and business administrators who represent the diverse geography and culture of California. Members represent ethnic, rural and urban communities, public and private organizations as well as the regions of the North, Central and South.
