California Track & Running News was started way back in 1974 in Fresno, California. The former owners sold it to Shooting Star Media, Inc. in 1998. In 1998, thanks to the kind assistance of John Mansoor of the Pacific Association, CalIfornia Track & Running News formed a relationship with the Pacific, Central, San Diego and Southern California Associations of USA Track & Field. Essentially, CTRN became the official publication of USA Track & Field for California and Northern Nevada. In March of 2000, CTRN began publishing The Runner's Schedule Calendar, the work of Kees & Sandy Tuinzing that had been such an important publication for Northern California since 1983.
