In New Orleans on May 12, President George H.W. Bush and President William J. Clinton announced 10 new Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund grants recipients totaling $9.7 million. These direct grants focused on health, housing, community and infrastructure covering all three states impacted by Hurricane Katrina – Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Previously, the Presidents announced awards totaling $90 million for higher education, houses of worship and the three states impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Since September, the Presidents have raised approximately $115 million; awarded 42 grants, and disbursed more than $53 million through April 30, 2006.

The Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund’s (BCKF) grant cycle is underway for religious institutions in the Gulf Coast impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Funds will be used to assist houses of worship in their rebuilding and recovery efforts. Applications are currently being accepted through July 31st and will be reviewed and granted on a rolling basis.

To apply, you must be a house of worship located in the affected area prior to Hurricane Katrina, and rebuild within Alabama Louisiana, and Mississippi.
