Okay, so I love Raph. Why? Cause he's cool why not? To me he is real but don't worry, I do have a grip on reality. Online, here, he exists, but he is nothing more than a piece of my pitiful personality. My negative side. Yeah so I didn't create him or his brothers but I like to have fun, sort of 'borrowing' them as a creative outlet whether it's in RPGs, art or fics. I do get carried away as if he were really real, but it's all in fun. I've liked Raph since 1989, I used to watch the old toon in high school, then when the movie came out in 1990, I totally fell in love...the way they portrayed them, and those high tech costumes, it's easy to forget they're just elaborate animatronic characters. Raph was the only turtle portrayed and voiced by the some actor, Josh Pais; he was brilliant for his work which must have been tough and his voice is real live lower east side that fit Raph perfectly. I grew up on Muppets, I was thrilled that the Creature Shop created the TMNT for the first movie. I was disappointed that they changed their look in II because of technology advances and unlike the first movie, they designed the electronics before designing the heads. And then Josh didn't return to voice or play Raph in costume, so his whole personality was lost to some other performers.
So all of this made me believe in Raph. He's an awesome character. I just really like him a whole bunch. I'm not a typical drooling, squee-ing fangirl either. Raph would run for those types if ya ask me!! I've very calm and collected, and quiet about it.
I'm into real turtles, never thought they'd be such an interesting animal until I got them and spoiled them. They are true survivors and sadly, humans will be the cause of their demise.
