Known originally as Deep East Texas Regional MHMR Services, the Burke Center was founded in 1974 and today provides a variety of quality behavioral healthcare services to people with mental illness, mental retardation, and chemical dependency. One of forty-one community centers in the State of Texas, the result of legislation passed in 1965, the Burke Center provides services in a twelve county region that includes: Angelina Co., Houston Co., Jasper Co., Nacogdoches Co., Newton Co., Polk Co.,
