Description
The idea for a soup and stewhouse had been simmering in the pots and pans of Justin Joyce and Sara Urbauer for a long time. Both had worked in the hospitality industry for many years and had been exposed to many different types of food delivery systems. However, none like the one they had crafted. It seemed a natural, hearty and delicious soups and stews at a value oriented price in a warm, comfortable environment, I mean, it IS Canada after all.
Finally, the decision to put the concept in motion was made. The first step was to find quality business partners, not an easy task! But with some perseverance and a little luck two fantastic partners were finally discovered. Mr. Ken Carty and Mr. Stephan MacIntyre quickly jumped in after hearing the idea and since it had never been tried in Vancouver or Canada, as far as we knew, we all felt a little like pioneers.
We opened our doors December 27th, 2001 and were warmly received by our neighbourhood customers, destination diners and critics alike. Our mission was being eaten up ... be the standard to which all else is measured, in the restaurant and retail industries for purveying high quality, value oriented soups and stews... and we were delighted!
