Bucks County Choral Society: Summer Sings

The Bucks County Choral Society will be hosting three sing-along Summer Sings sessions in July at a variety of beautiful Bucks County locations. At Summer Sings sessions, singers and music enthusiasts of all kinds, from beginners to amateurs to professionals, have the opportunity to join together to sing through a choral masterwork under the baton of a major area choral director. These friendly, informal sessions provide a great opportunity for choral music fans and choral singers of all persuasions to share in a unique community choral experience.

This year’s Summer Sing sessions focus on well-known choral works. On Tuesday, July 11, Dr. Joseph Ohrt, Director of Choral Activities at Central Bucks High School - West, will conduct a reading of Fauré’s popular Requiem at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St. in Doylestown. Choir master and organist Timothy Harrell will lead Handel’s Messiah at Trinity Episcopal Church, Rte. 263 & Sugan Rd. in Solebury on Tuesday, July 18, and BCCS artistic director Thomas Lloyd will lead the assembled singers in a reading of Mozart’s Requiem at Yardley Community Center, Main Street in Yardley on Tuesday, July 25. Rental scores will be available for all sessions at a nominal charge (although singers are invited to bring their own copies), and a reception with refreshments will be held after each session. All Summer Sing sessions begin at 7:30 p.m.

Notes Lloyd, "Last year’s Summer Sings sessions were our first and they were tremendous successes. No matter what your singing skill level is, the Summer Sings format is a nice, pressure-free way to join together with singers from all walks of life to get acquainted with some outstanding choral masterworks."
