It was 60 years ago … in 1949, that the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act became law - creating the framework for national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty. It was 20 years ago … in 1989, that the Broads Authority was set up, following the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads Act 1988, which gave the Broads status equivalent to a national park.
