About South Wales
South Wales Police covers an area of around 812 square miles, which although only representing 10% of the geographical area of Wales, is the home to 1,225,900 people, around 42% of the country's whole population.
The two Welsh cities of Cardiff and Swansea both are situated the force area and continue to expand and provide their own policing challenges.
The capital city Cardiff, is the youngest European city and is recognised as one of the fastest growing, vibrant and cosmopolitan. In June this year the city played host to the European Summit, a major policing event which involved VIPS from 12 member states, including 27 heads of state which placed Cardiff in the worldwide media arena.
