BOUPS is a belgium-based electronic music internet radio. Two years after its birth in march 2000, the spontaneous initiative of a few musically passionnate people has become an important meeting point in the belgian electronic music scene.
The main concept behind Boups consists of a radio station that continuously diffuses an entirely musical program, specialising in electronic music, and accessible exclusively through an internet website. The internet is a unique form of media in the sense that it allows local initiatives to reach global-scales and to interact directly with their public. This allows the radio to reach beyond national borders, despite it being a brussels-born project focusing mainly on the belgian electronic scene, interest stemming from outside the country continues to grow. The simple infrastructure required for an internet radio to function allows flexibility and garanties continuous evolvement, unlike the inertia larger structures tend to be faced with.
The musical programs are diffused 24h/24 every day of the week. Live acts are transmitted each night along with video backdrop, in Real Media format and with sound only in MP3. In addition to this, we transmit events such as parties and live concerts onto the net via the radio as often as possible. Besides the actual radio broadcasting, the site proposes complementary services including an agenda of electronic music oriented events, contests to win entrance tickets and other information related to the belgian music scene as a whole. In order to increase interactivity, forum and chat services have also been integrated into the site and attract the attention of many visitors.
