The Booker T. Washington Learning Center was founded under the parent organization, East Harlem Churches and Community Urban Center in 1987 by Reverend Leroy Ricksy. Reverend Leroy Ricksy decided to help four children he met on a housing call. Their grandmother was raising these children. Since, the inception of Booker T. several programs have developed and expanded.
