Bobby Lerma is a 1975 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Brownville; he attended Texas Southmost Collgege from 1975 to 1977 and then received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Texas A & I University, Kingsville, in 1979; he received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1984. While at South Texas, he interned at the Harris County District Attorney's Office; From 1984 until 1991, he was partnership with his father, the late Judge D.J.
