May 15 – 18 2006: BlueScope Steel participated in the weeklong South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) Conference and Exhibition held recently at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines. This year’s theme “The Asian Steel Industry: Techno-Economic Perspective” saw over 300 delegates from across Asia. The much anticipated annual conference is regarded by all in the steel industry as an excellent platform from which to gain and share invaluable information regarding the steel industry. This is particularly so as many of the participants are major industry players and experts.
BlueScope Steel was well represented at this year’s conferences with presentation by President BlueScope Steel Indonesia and Malaysia, Mr Rob Crawford and Business Project Manager of BlueScope Steel Indonesia, Mr Penta Priatma, Manager of Rolling and Metalworking Research, Mr Daniel Yuen and Manager of International Markets, Mr Bruce Whalan.
As in previous years, BlueScope Steel had a significant presence on the exhibition floor with a booth highlighting BlueScope Steel’s presence and capability across the region. This year Senior Market Communication Executive, Ms Mandy Chen from our Malaysian coating line and Senior Marketing Executive, Ms Lai May Senn from our regional MARCOM group manned the booth. They were ably assisted by Ex-President Asian Building & Manufacturing Markets, Mr Mike Courtnall and Mr Ian Bartholomew. Special thanks go to President of BlueScope Steel Philippines, Mauro Cervantes, who assisted the team in setting up the display before the conference as well.
