Description
I'm an American artist born and raised outside Boston, Massachusetts. My father is a Greek immigrant from East Africa and my mother is a Croatian immigrant from Zagreb. My parents met while living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and like so many other immigrants, came to America to find a better life. Because of that heritage, I had the great fortune of being exposed to a myriad of cultures and landscapes from early on.
I taught myself to oil paint at the age of 12. I continued to develop my skills and technique over the years through self discipline and practice. I went on to formally study Art in New York, at Hofstra University, where I earned a B.A. in both Art History and Film, with extensive coursework in painting and photography.
I developed a fascination with nature and architecture at an early age, having spent most of my summers with relatives along the Istrian coast of Croatia. The rolling hills, rugged coastline, and ancient architecture were, and still are unending sources of inspiration. I go back to Croatia often, both to relax and to walk along one of the world's most breathtaking and understated landscapes.
