About
BlogScope is part of a research project on text streams going on at Database Group, University of Toronto. The main aim of BlogScope is to provide a real test bed for algorithms developed as part of this project. This involves online analysis of high volume text streams like blogosphere.
Motivation: With the advent of world wide web, amount of available information is growing at an enormous speed. Blogs, with millions of authors writing daily all over the globe, form one of the richest source of information. Most of this information however is repetitive and has lot of noise. Identifying interesting information from this large corpus of text documents is an important but difficult problem. BlogScope tries to help user discover knowledge from blogs by providing hints in form of bursts and correlations.
We currently have over 3.69 million blogs with 23.76 million posts from blogspot.com in our database. After removing non-english content and spam posts, we index 20.02 million documents.
