Description
Michael started on his own in 1976 in conjunction with James Atherton. As the practice grew, James retired and Andrew joined as a full equity partner in 1983 to take on his role.
Andrew initially worked as a site engineer for Wates Ltd, moving to Sir William Halcrow and Partners, Consulting Engineers after a number of years, then to W S Atkins and Partners where he became Resident Engineer for the Stilling Fleet Minework which was part of the Selby Coalfield Projects. He joined Michael in 1983.
One of our first major projects was the design of the David Lloyd Tennis Centre. This was a £2.5 million project providing 12 indoor tennis courts with ancillary facilities such as swimming pools, jacuzzis, a snooker hall and a gymnasium. The Michael Blacker Partnership has since been involved in the extension of the centre.
