Who We Are
Birch Creek Nursery began in 1997 in response to a need for locally grown native plants and hardy unusual garden selections. Every year the garden gets bigger, the variety of plants offered for sale gets broader, and we learn more about the specific growing needs of different plant families and how to grow better plants in general.
Birch Creek is home of McDuff, the public relations dog, who thinks that everyone comes out to the nursery to see him, and Miss Josephine Lightfoot (aka Josie), who is in charge of rodent control, and finds it necessary to check out open doors and windows in vehicles just in case there’s a mouse in there. (And the top of the arbour for reasons known only to a cat.)
Birch Creek is a small nursery, with only a few dedicated staff members, but we try to offer customers the kind of information, education and service that we would like to receive ourselves. Gardening in north-central B.C. is challenging, and occasionally frustrating, but there’s no end to the interesting and beautiful plants that can be grown here, and our mission is to offer as many of them as possible.
