Biotrin is a diagnostics company that specialises in providing a range of novel and proprietary tests for the clinician and research scientist. Established in 1992, the company has two distinct business units: Infectious Diseases, which provides tests for the detection of new and emerging viruses; and Biomarkers, which include a range of novel, proprietary biomarkers to assess organ and tissue damage.
Biotrin's lead product range includes tests to detect Parvovirus B19, a viral infection that can cause miscarriage in pregnant women. Biotrin is the world leader in Parvovirus B19 testing and the only company to have FDA approved tests. The company also provides a range of CE marked tests for other emerging viruses, including HHV-6, HHV-8 and Hantavirus. In its Biomarkers portfolio of products, Biotrin has developed a range of tests (SMART ASSAYS) for clinicians, toxicologists and research scientists. HEPKIT(TM) Alpha is a sensitive and specific method for monitoring liver transplantation while Biotrin also has a range of novel hepatology and nephrology biomarker assays that are for toxicological screening in drug development and in many areas of basic scientific and clinical research
Biotrin's headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland, where it conducts its R&D, manufacturing and marketing activities. The company sells directly in the US, through its subsidiaries in Germany and France and also employs a network of over 40 distributors worldwide.
