- The UK Bioinformatics Forum (UKBF) was set up as a joint venture between Oxford Brookes University, Oxford University and the Oxfordshire Bioscience Network (OBN). Established in 2001 to improve networking across academia and industry, UKBF received a 1-year seed funding grant from the South East England Development Agency to allow it to establish itself as the leading network for the UK bioinformatics community between March 2004 and 2005. The Forum aims to be self-funding, raising its running costs through corporate sponsorships, advertising on the web portal, and through fees earnt by the event registration fees. The following is the Terms of Reference document adopted by the joint industry-academia steering group in March 2005.
