Each live penny auction has a current price and a certain amount of time left. When you place a bid, the auction price moves up by a little. Also, the auction end time is extended by a few seconds. When the time runs out, whoever is the high bidder gets to buy the item that is on auction for the end price.
In order to bid on an auction, you must first purchase bids. Every time you place a bid, the number of bids you have goes down by one.
The price increment and time interval can vary from auction to auction. It will be shown clearly on the auction details view.

It depends on how many you buy. BidRodeo offers bids in bid packages. The smallest package is the Basic 10 bids and each bid costs $1.00. If you are looking for some savings, the Value bid package contains 20 bids and each bid costs $0.80. If you decide that the Special bid package is for you, each of the 50 bids will cost $0.75. The seconds largest Mega Deal package contains 100 bids and each bid costs $0.72. If you want the most savings, you should buy the Grand Bargain bid package. It contains 200 bids and each bid costs $0.70.
