Description
The Brooklyn Institute of Contemporary Art, was founded in 2004 by Isolde Brielmaier and Trevor Schoonmaker as an organization dedicated to bridging the gap between the contemporary art world and global culture and to bringing the work of a diverse range of artists to the broadest possible audience.
BICA is organizing a series of exhibitions and programs in collaboration with select organizations to be presented at venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan through summer 2006.
As Trevor Schoonmaker and Isolde Brielmaier each move to new posts - Schoonmaker was recently appointed Curator of Contemporary Art at Duke University's Nasher Museum and Brielmaier is now the Director and Chief Curator of the Rotunda Gallery Brooklyn - their vision of BICA will continue to move forward.
