It was the first horse racing program ever written for MS Windows and the first to employ a host of utilities including betting calculators, tax deduction, maps of courses, simple bank accounting system, effective odds of dead heating horses, auto-staking system, racing calendar, and ultimately a sound ratings program based on form that was manually entered using data from the Daily Mirror as the preferred national paper for racing.
In 1994 uniquely devised speed ratings were introduced in addition to the form ratings and the product was renamed Speedmaster. The speed ratings combined with the form rating gave an overall rating that has proved extremely accurate over the years.
In 1995, automatic data entry was introduced by way of 'Racecards' - downloadable data via a modem and bulletin board that brought an end to the tedious task of manual data entry. This was another first.
