Description

Excerpted from the website:

We are members of the Illinois Artisans Program. Our corn brooms are handcrafted and hand sewn using 1850's technology. Phil learned the art of broom making from Elder V. Danielson in 1983. For 12 years Phil was a member of the Bishop Hill Heritage Craftsman Program. Our interest in growing various varieties of broomcorn began with a handful of seed samples from Dr. H. Hadley. Today, we grow 10-18 acres of broomcorn in Illinois. Each year we cut the stalks by hand. The seeded bristles are then dried as everlastings. The rich natural colors and different bristle textures provide a unique material for craft and floral design. As outdoor decoratives, the seeded designs provide a feast for nature's winged creatures.
