The City of Beloit, the county seat of Mitchell County, is located in the Solomon River Valley in north central Kansas. It is in the heart of the Smoky Hills in the land of the Kansas Post Rock. Beloit is governed by a Mayor, Rebecca Koster, and a City Council, with the day-to-day operations managed by a City Administrator, Glenn Rodden. In addition to providing the public water supply and wastewater treatment, the city is also the local electric utility.
