- In 1924, at a time when raffia ribbon was used primarily as a package sealer, Mr. Bauer founded Bauer & Co., Barmen as a mere raffia ribbon company. Then adhesive tape did not yet exist and for a long time raffia ribbon was used for binding and tying. Later on also silk ribbon was used for packaging.
