- My name is Rick Whitehead and I started Bass is Loaded!® Mobile DJ in 1990. My interest in the mobile DJ industry began in high school. I chose my company name as a play on words to convey the importance of having all your bases covered for an event. And I wanted every client to experience full sound. Hence...Bass is Loaded! I purchased my first “professional” sound system from the Radio Shack I worked at for $500. At least back then I thought it was professional!
