The purpose of Black History Month is to highlight and commemorate the achievements and history of people from an African diaspora (common ethnic identity) as a means of providing an opportunity for people of all ethnicities and backgrounds to celebrate and be educated about cultural diversity. We look to pay particular attention to the accomplishments of people from a black origin, here in the United Kingdom, Essex and Basildon.
